The newsroom feels different today. Even if you had not listened to the news this morning or tuned into the radio, just a whiff of 200 Grays Inn Road would have got you thinking: something's up.
A rough equivalent, in terms of a change of mood, must be an A&E unit when an accident comes in. People's faces change, banter reduces to a minimum, footsteps quicken, decisions become decisive. This is when it feels like there is a point to it all.
Thank God the story isn't death we're chasing.
