Our resident political blogger Iain Dale names Jeffrey Archer as his blogger of the week but not before pointing out a few harsh lessons for a would-be member of the blogosphere.
"Lesson one: Update your blog every day even if it's only a couple of lines. Lesson two: interact with people who leave comments and don't leave it for days on end to moderate them."
Super-blogger Brian Micklethwait thinks Archer has got potential.
"He's a dreadful name dropper but at least he has names to drop. You wouldn't want your sister to marry him but as a blogger he might prove to be quite good.
"Perhaps this blog is Archer's reaction to a big media blackout and perhaps he's using it launch yet another comeback. If so, more potential fun."
Elsewhere, on his weekly missive for Channel 4 News Radio's Morning Report Iain turns his attention to the silly season - and Edinburgh City Council's threat to arrest Mel Smith for smoking a cigar on stage as he played Winston Churchill.
The Daily Pundit blog was suitably outraged: "Smoke a joint and you're cool, Labour cool ... but dare to smoke a Havana cigar on stage ... the health fascists will be down on you like a ton of Amsterdam's finest."
Devil's Kitchen, not unusually is fizzing: "It's ironic that the touchpaper should be lit by a play about Churchill, reckoned by many to be our nation's greatest hero of modern times; the man who helped saved us from the worst imaginable tyranny."
Mars Blog disagreed: "He doesn't actually have to light the cigar. It's called acting."
You can hear his report here and you can find out more about The Morning Report here. Iain can still be found at his usual poolside retreat - iaindale.blogspot.com.
Personally, I love Jeffrey's blog and am an avid reader of his exploits. I do agree with your number 1 & 2 rules, but one has to remember Lord A does lead rather a busy life and in any event, if you had read his blog properly, you would realise that he is probably on holiday at the moment!
